No, these images aren't pixellated because of low resolution. They are the creations of Brazilian artist Matheus Toscano, better known as 8bit Football. His pictures take you back to video games in the late '80s and early '90s on purpose!
The big pixels don't make the players and football moments less recognizable. If you are a football fan you recognize the moments and stars for sure! Matheus started making the pictures after he was inspired by a blog that illustrated movies and Hollywood stars in retro style. Now he has created an incredible amount of pictures with epic football moments.
For example: Messi's incredible goal against Bayern (with Boateng falling down), the bolt substitute of Krul by Van Gaal during the world cup, the nutmeg of Luiz by Suarez (twice!), and many more. Here are only shown eight, so make sure to take a look at his website:
