Like I always do when I come across sportart which catches my eye, the first thing is to find more information on the artist and his/her work. While doing this with Dave, I came across an interview he did with YACK Brooklyn. Read it, it's a laugher and gives a good feel of the guy.
The interview reads the story of a 6-foot-6, 240-pound former college football player turned painter, selling his artwork on the street, who because of his dry sense of humor and crafty social media skills has built quite a network of celebrity fans, like Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, and Carmelo Anthony.
Photography book or images downloaded from the internet are the models for his acrylic paintings.
Starting out as an abstract expressionist, he discovered that his abstracts would end up as funky portraits. As an avid sports fan, it made sense for Dave to start painting protraits of athletes he admired. Nobody's complaining!
