Norm Daniels, as it reads on his website, has dabbled in the arts his whole life: 'painting moustaches on posters, scribbling Griffinesque waves on the corners of his homework, even occasionally selling something to the unsuspecting public out of his VW bus in-between surf sessions.'
Now he is seen as one of the best surf and island themed artists and illustrators, recognised by his unique and fun impressionistic style, working primarily with oil on canvas. Fittingly with his art is that Norm loves to paint in 'plein air', which suits his subject matter like a wetsuit! This has given him the chance to travel the world and paint scenes from San Diego country landmarks to the beauty of The Islands. But don't think he only sells his works from the back of his van, he is also represented by galleries world wide!
Norm's story is the one of the studied architect, working in a place where are no waves to be found, eventually returning to the water and having the opportunity to quit the day job to only pursue art and surfing. We have to be happy he did, because his works scream stoke, outside life and love for surf.
