Apollo Amsterdam, the pro basketball team in my hometown, had a makeover during the off season. They have started the new season fresh! New logo, new colors, new fan gear, new energy! It's an attempt to solidify the future of the club, which has been shaky not that long ago, and get the city more involved with basketball in general and their very own pro team. Because we love our sports, we are tall, so let's go basketball!
What Art Loves Sport especially likes is that in the new route the arts also have a place! In rememberance of the past of the club and especially the legendary players, artist Bram Boem has made portraits of the Apollo legends in the homebase, the Apollo Hal.
He has already made Hank Smith (1975-1976 League MVP), Chris McGuthrie (2000-2001 League MVP), Joe Spinks (1999-2000 & 2002-2003 League MVP) and Peter van Paassen (2007-2008 & 2008-2009 League MVP). All MVPs while playing for Amsterdam. I wonder who is next?!
They made timelapse making ofs, so be sure to check them out below! And if you are in Amsterdam, go to a game and see the art for yourself! Excitement is getting back to Apollo!
